After graduating from the
University of Manchester (UK) in 1999 and training as a teacher,
Ian travelled
the world for two years before finally settling in Indonesia
in 2002. He taught English for 2 years in
Medan before moving to Jakarta to set up and manage a
large new program aimed at sending less privileged
Indonesians to study overseas. It was on this project
that he met and worked with Dewi, Monica and Andrew,
the other three business partners.
When not managing Aim for English, Ian enjoys travel,
reading, movies and various sports.

Andrew completed a modern
languages degree course in London, UK in 1996, then worked
in the advertising and marketing department of a large UK
national newspaper. His love of travel and languages resulted
in a desire to live and work abroad, and Andrew left the UK
in 2000to teach in Japan. He settled in Indonesia in 2003.
In his free time, Andrew enjoys sports, reading, and travelling.

Monica spent her childhood
and teenage years in the USA, returning to Indonesia after
completion of her honours degree course in 2000. She worked
as an English teacher in Medan and Jakarta, and in 2002 she
completed her “CELTA” teaching certification in
Perth, Australia. Monica is married and has a young daughter,
and she also enjoys reading classical literature, surfing
the Internet and travel.

Dewi always wanted to teach.
After graduating from UI in 1999, she worked in various language
training institutes, before gaining the impressive “Certificate
of Language Teaching for Adults” by the University of
Cambridge, usually reserved for native-speakers of English.
She began working with the other three AIM partners several
years ago, and was instrumental in the initial planning and
development of Aim for English. Outside work, Dewi spends
time with her family, enjoys hiking, computers, reading and
travel.
